Lilongwe, March 13, 2025 Exploits University, in collaboration with the National Bank of Malawi (NBM), successfully conducted a tree planting exercise at SOS Primary School in Lilongwe. The initiative aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and instilling a culture of conservation among young learners.
The event brought together students, teachers, and representatives from both institutions, who joined forces to plant trees within the school premises. The exercise was part of Exploits University’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, which focuses on environmental conservation, education and community development.
Speaking at the event, Exploits University’s Director of Quality Assurance, Ruth Mgwede Mdala, emphasized the importance of afforestation in order to have clean air. “We believe that planting trees would help provide good air to the children at the campus but also fruits since some of the trees planted are fruit trees. Through this initiative, we are not only greening the environment but also educating young minds on the significance of sustainability,” she said.

The Head Teacher of SOS Primary School expressed gratitude for the initiative, noting that the newly planted trees would provide shade, enhance air quality, and contribute to a healthier learning environment for the pupils.
The event concluded with a pledge from both Exploits University and the National Bank of Malawi to continue supporting green initiatives and community in development projects across the country.
